"Migration is not a pleasure, but
an inescapable necessity and therefore it is a right" - Blessed John
Baptist Scalabrini. Starting from the concept of migration ''The displacement
of a population from one place to another destination, in order to find a
better quality of life in different nation'', I can say that people have to
migrate out of necessity, although, we can also consider that they decide to do
it, in consequence of survival and economical issues.
Have you ever thought about how much
families suffer when one member of their clan has to migrate? When I try to
answer this question, I really need help, because, I’ve never been through a
situation like this, so, I always ask my grandfather to tell me his story,
since, he has to migrate from a rural area to an urban one with his family, and
I’d like to know more about this process and how difficult it was to adapt for
him to his new home and to start living a life from scratch.
Do you want to know more about
migration process? So, let’s get started.
The best thing of
migration
While is truth that migration is a
difficult process, we must have in consideration that migration is a period of
change, in which, entire families go through a moment in which they seek to
improve their job opportunities and thus become a better person and their best
version. One of the funniest experiences that my grandfather told me, was that
one night, he and his siblings were walking around a forest and they just
looked a shadow behind them, so, they really scared, but, when they flipped,
they saw a pretty and amazing scarecrow, it looks as a funny clown.
The good news is that, with migration
we can learn and know more about other cultures, and, we can travel around the
world, in search of a new and best lifestyle. We can perceive traditions, languages,
idioms, traditional food, dances, gorgeous places and the way a person
expresses him or herself within the general atmosphere of their country, as
well.
The worst thing of
migration
Once a time, that my grandfather and his family, decides
to migrate to another country, there is no turning back, given that a migration
process requires a previous preparation. The most painful thing is that they
must be get away from their rest of the family, and they have to make up their mind,
that they may never see the others members of their family again. When you go
abroad, is important to become acquainted with all the things that you’re going
to deal with different challenges, troubles and realities, that will mark your
future in that country.
Coupling to the
new weather, transportation and neighborhood.
Like our course changes, our personality and our
capacity to think about different situations in our lives also change, and,
when my grandfather and his family arrived to another country, they actually felt
very weird and strange, since, they don’t know anything about the place in
which they found at the moment, so, they really need to adapt to the weather,
that sometimes, varies a lot, I mean, one day it is too hot and suddenly, the
next day rains a lot, and normally people, suffering a lot, because, they
usually get sick.
Other problem of migrate, according to my
grandfather, is the transportation, and, he refers that it’s not as easy as he
thought, the biggest struggle was knowing what transport they need to take or
choose, without knowing anything, it’s very complicated to locate us, so, my
grandfather and his siblings, used to lost a lot in the urban area, was a
really problem for them to go to their school and move within the city. The neighborhood,
was a really big problem too, inasmuch as they were very crazy, impolite, noisy
and annoying people.
It’s really worth
migrating?
From my grandfather’s point of view, yes, migrating
will help us to have a better quality of life, which, although at the
beginning, will be difficult for us, over time, it will become easier for us,
because, we will already know how the process works. If you are a person, who
at the moment, is going through a moment of migration or you are undecided, my
grandfather can give you an advice that will allow you to develop better in the
migration environment, such as the fact, look for a safe place in which you can
spend the night, always wear appropriate clothing for the cold and heat, like
clothing, food, drink is essential for our survival, and last but not least,
always carry medications with you, in case that you need it.
Advices for
migration
Next, you’re gonna receive some tips, if somebody
or even if you’ll migrate. All the ones you’ll find are given by my grandfather,
so, I really hope, that you can appreciate it and enjoy it, and of course,
hopefully it will serve you.
- Work on feelings of empathy.
- Demystify prejudices with judgment and knowledge.
- Give security to public opinion.
- Help not to politicize the immigration issue.
- Promote the association of the host society with migrants.
- See what the others do.
Conclusion
Finally, my conclusion, and based on my
grandfather’s experience, what I’d say, is, that our life will not always do as
we perceive it, since, life will never stop surprising us, putting different
challenges, surprises in it, which, without any doubt, will help us to function
better in it. environment in which we live, so personally, I believe that if we
want to have a better life, we must know how to take advantage of
opportunities.
