How the change to the city affected my family and me

Hello, my name is Matias Villavicencio and I am going to tell you about my experience moving from my hometown to the city when I was little.

Are you going to leave your hometown, where you have been since you were a child, and you don't know how it will affect you and your family? Don't worry, this is what happened to me and what happened to my family moving to the city. Since I can remember I have lived in Ricaurte, a small town in Chone, always spending time with my best friends that we have been since childhood, we have done everything together and we have had great anecdotal experiences, likewise I have spent a lot of time together with my grandmother In Chone we have a very nice farm, with cows, pigs, chickens, and a horse.Since I was little, I remember that every morning I woke up before 6 o'clock to feed my chickens, pigs and milk the cows, I always do just that, also in my free time it helps to collect cocoa and dry it, this It was what I liked the most. There was a day in which my father and mother, very serious, called me and my brother and explained to us that due to economic situations we had to go live in Quito.

(I promise you, my friend, that when my parents told us that, I stayed cold, I did not want to go, for me it is better to live in the country than in the city, but it was necessary to go to Quito).

The process of migration to the city

My parents told us that we were leaving in 3 days, and we should have left everything ready and organized, this process was very ugly, seeing how your house of all your life was gradually becoming empty is the worst, putting your things and clothes in suitcases is ugly. Then we had to find someone to help us take care of our animals and the farm, it is a long process and you have a bit of a mystery about how that person will do their job.

But believe me this is nothing compared to saying goodbye to your grandmother, knowing that now you are going to see her for less time and from time to time than she normally was, it is very sad, you don't want to do it, because you are going to cry and your grandmother Also, because they will feel far away and they will not see each other for some time and you will also feel the same with your best friends.

This is the first step, the most painful thing already happened, but now what happens? Now we must see where we are going to live and where we are going to study? In this phase you will be afraid, because you leave your life, to create a new one. , But this has good things, right? The answer is yes, in my case, my parents already had everything planned, we were going to live in the house of my other grandparents and study in a better school than I was. The day came to leave, it was a very long and sad trip, all the way I was remembering all the beautiful things that happened on the farm, with my friends and with my grandmother, my parents were explaining to us the good things that this was going to us bring and they were right, because my other grandparents will be happy to see us, I will have new friends and I will have new experiences. After the long 5 hours, we arrived at my grandparents' house, they welcomed us very well, with a delicious breakfast.

The feelings of my family and me

In this process of adaptation I was having mixed feelings just like my family, on the one hand my grandparents from Quito were very happy that we are going to be with them for a long time, my grandmother from Chone was sad, she missed us, we always spent with her since I can remember, with my best friends we played online and we always tried to talk, but it was not the same. My parents, my brother and I, on the one hand we were happy that we are going to have a new stage in our lives and on the other hand we were sad to leave our old and happy life.

How was the adaptation process?

Although you may not believe me, this process can take a long time, it was difficult for me to adapt, especially to the climate of Quito, because in Chone it is very hot and here it is too cold, with my parents and my brother, we knew how to devise different strategies to communicate with my grandmother and see how the man who was helping us was doing. Somehow in my new school they knew how to help me and make me part of their own. As time goes by, you like it and you find a positive face to what you are living today.

My conclusion

What I can tell you, my friend, as a reflection or conclusion, is that you know how to face this challenge in the best way together with your family, support each other, so everything will turn out better.
Life is like a video game, each day is a different level, with a different difficulty, in this game called life, you have certain obstacles they can be easy or difficult, as you progress, find a way to pass that obstacle, ask for help, try it, It does not matter that you delay, but do it, always at the end of the road there will be the best rewards, it is normal that you have fear and insecurity, but everything happens for something and I am sure that this will help you and your family, just have faith and everything will be better.
